I'm an artist residing in a CT beachside community with my vintage electronics dealer husband Mike and two house rabbits.
Ever since I could wrap my fingers around a pencil, I've been gracing a variety of surface matter with whimsical beings and colorful designs. It wasn't a surprise to anyone-upon reaching grown-up-hood–that I decided to become an artist.
I embarked on a full-time career in illustration in 1998. Prior to that time, I freelanced as a graphic designer for newspapers, magazines and in-house corporate graphic departments.
But I found out quickly that the illustration market can't support you when you are seeking to buy a home with your antique dealer– i.e. self-employed-husband. I also deplored creating "art" for a mass-market mentality, often the end result didn't reflect my "voice" nor my aesthetic standards. So I moved on and beyond.
I moved beyond the world of two-dimentional illustration to explore creating in three-dimentional form. I started out in clay but soon moved over to fiber to sculpt in wool using a technique known as "Needlefelting". I combine a lot of different elements in my characters so I guess I could label my figurative pieces as "mixed-media".
I am a self-proclaimed holiday freak so I create miniature whimisical character ornaments and put them up for auction on eBay. My seller id is: suzanne.artist.
I'm enjoying this new vocation and find it far more satisfying as it allows me to indulge my passion for fine detail and humorous concepts. My goal is to educate the public that ornaments, are an art form in their own right and once in the buyers hands, they become an heirloom piece for generations to come.
Ornamentally yours,
